Nidaross takes its name and its temperament from Norway — a place where things are made carefully and kept for generations. But the firm itself is being built on American soil, with that same long view.
The bridge above crosses Byrd Lake at Cumberland Mountain State Park, on the Cumberland Plateau. It was raised stone by stone by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s — built by hand, built to be useful, built to last. Nearly a century on, it still carries everything asked of it.
